With the album 'Dahmani', the Algerian singer Dahmani, in
collaboration with Existence, presents a masterpiece of musical
creativity.
Traditional Algerian musicians with instruments such as loud,
darbouka, ney, and Oriental violins are complemented by innovative
and surprising sound creations, orchestral backgrounds, flamenco
guitars, pulsating rhythms and Margot Reisinger's hypnotic
vocals. The compositions are at once unusual yet timelessly
traditional, combining the elements of Orient and Occident,
creating a wonderful ambience for Dahmani’s outstanding
voice.
Margot Reisinger, founder of Existence, sensitively adds
to Dahmani's Oriental solo voice, lyrics, and compositions,
an imaginative breadth and depth, that molds them into musical
masterpieces.
Dahmani and Existence present a wide range of Oriental themes:
the euphoric happiness of an Arabian wedding with dancing,
singing, tea and couscous (Chante ma Fatima), a hot-blooded
declaration of love for an enchanting femme fatale (La Zina
Orientale), and the dramatic cry for peace within the painful
tragedy of Palestine (Child of Palestine).
This album is a voice of hope for peace in times of increasing
intolerance between East and West. Are not the dreams and
longings of Arab and Western men and women equal, a deep wish
for love, peace, freedom, happiness, and passion? This musical
collaboration is evidence that cultural differences can be
compatible and enriching instead of divisive.
After the album 'Qi•Chi•Ki', a meditative voyage
to the Far East, and 'Like A Shot Through The Heart', a new
path into the spirit of the Native American culture, Existence
now embarks on this Oriental journey with Dahmani.
We invite you to experience 'Dahmani', and to be moved, captivated,
and bewitched by this declaration of love for the Oriental
culture and the whole of mankind.
